I thought it might be time for an update on this blanket of mine, especially since we’re nearing the end of our time here in New Zealand. These photos were snapped early this morning, while the rest of the crew slept soundly but I was awake with the itchiest of itchy bites that I’ve ever had in my life. The mosquitoes here show no mercy!
There hasn’t been as much crochet as I expected, mostly because the weather has been insanely hot, so I fitted most of this in during air conditioned road travel – when it was my turn in the passenger seat.
So far I’ve completed 32 square centres somewhere between the roads of Paihia, Rotorua, Hamilton, Lake Taupo and the beautiful Coromandel Penisula, plus a few squares by the pool. The good news is that I’m well ahead of my schedule to complete 100 of these by the end of the February – I’m up to 74 including my stash at home.
I’d love to finish off the final 26 squares while I’m here, but we’ll see how I go. Then the tedious task of darning in all the ends will keep me busy when we’re back.
I’ve lost track of how many of you are joining in and making your own ‘weekend in Stockholm’ blanket this year, but I think we might be sitting on around 20 blankets for 2015 – which is pretty awesome. If you’re joining in and also on instagram, there’s a hashtag that we’ve been using to share our blanket squares – #weekendinstockholmblanket.
Are you joining in? How is your progress going? I must say that I’m really thrilled with my progress so far and I can’t wait to get all of these squares finished, so that I can begin adding the next round of colour.
