I did it. After many hours of knitting, a bit of frustration, lots of help and advice from a nice friend with the gusset and heel, a few late nights and then plenty of wondering if I’d end up having second sock syndrome, I actually did it and cast off my first pair of socks.
Once the last sock came off my needle, I realised that sock knitting was not that hard after all and now I’m ready to dive right in to many a sock pattern. Let 2015 be the year of socks, I say!
The pattern was a freebie that I found online (a nice ribbed sock) and I learnt many great techniques along the way. There are couple of very minor errors if you look closely in these socks, but overall I am feeling very happy with them. I used some of the beautiful possum yarn that I bought in New Zealand, so they’ll be very warm and cosy come winter. Bella chose this shade of aqua blue herself and because she’s such a water baby, I’ve named them her ocean socks.
This sock knitting is a bit lovely and I’m about 1/5 of the way through my next set, but with March looming just around the corner I need to get back into the next stage of my Weekend in Stockholm blanket, so I stay on track. It’s a bit of a juggle sometimes, this creative-project-thingy, but I love the thrill of it!
Speaking of creative-project-thingies, tomorrow I’ll be sharing a new dishcloth pattern with you, so be sure to pop back. See you then,
